MAG welding is the English abbreviation of the very active gas arc welding.
It is a mixed gas shielded welding formed by adding a small amount of oxidizing gas (oxygen, carbon dioxide or its mixture) into argon gas.
In China, 80%Ar+20%CO2 mixed gas is commonly used. Because the proportion of argon in the mixed gas is large, it is often called argon-rich mixed gas shielded welding.
(1) Ar + O2
The active gas added with O2 in Ar can be used for welding of carbon steel, stainless steel and other high alloy steel and high strength steel.
Its biggest advantage, is to overcome the pure AR protection welding stainless steel liquid metal viscosity, surface tension is large and easy to produce pores, weld metal wettability is poor and easy to cause bite edge, cathode spot drift and arc instability and other problems.
When welding high alloy steels such as stainless steel and high strength steels of higher strength grade, the content of O2 (volume) should be controlled in 1%~5%. For welding carbon steel and low alloy structural steel, the content of O2 added to AR can reach 20%.
(2)Ar + CO2
The gas is used to weld low carbon steels and low alloy steels.
The commonly used mixing ratio (volume) is Ar80% + Co220 %, which has the advantages of stable AR arc arc, small splash, easy to obtain axial jet transition, and oxidation.
The problems such as high surface tension, thick liquid metal and easy drift of cathode spots during argon welding are overcome. At the same time, the mushroom depth of weld seam is improved.
(3) Ar + CO2 + O2
When Ar80% + Co215 % + O5% mixed gas (volume ratio) is used to weld low carbon steel and low alloy steel, the weld shape, joint quality, metal droplet transition and arc stability are better than the two kinds of mixed gas.
(4) Ar+He
When welding with 30~80%Ar mixture gas, the arc shape changes with the change of gas ratio.
As the proportion of helium in the mixed gas increases, the arc shrinks gradually. Especially for pure helium, the shape of the arc is significantly different from that of pure argon. The arc shrinks seriously and the arc columns are thin and concentrated.
The arc color gradually changes from white bright to orange yellow, which is mainly due to the fact that the spectral line of pure helium gas is within the orange wavelength range. With the increase of the proportion of helium gas, the number of ionization and recombination of helium atoms in the arc gradually increases, and the relative intensity of the spectral line also keeps increasing, and the arc color gradually changes from white bright to orange macroscopically.
The selection principle of process content and parameters of MAG welding is similar to that of MIG welding. Cleaning before welding is not as strict as MIG welding requirements.铜焊丝,Copper Welding Rods,铝焊丝,aluminium welding wire,镍焊条,Nickel electrode,药皮焊条,Flux Coated Brazing Welding Rods
