Gas welding and gas cutting is to use the heat from combustion of combustible gas and auxiliary gas as heat source for welding and cutting of metal materials. There are many types of flammable gases, such as acetylene, hydrogen, natural gas, and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) (mainly propane). The most commonly used gas is acetylene, followed by propane.
Welding materials for gas welding and gas cutting
Oxygen: oxygen is the combustion supporting gas in gas welding and cutting. Oxygen does not burn on its own, but it does help other combustible substances burn. Air separation is commonly used in industry to produce oxygen. Oxygen used in gas welding and gas cutting is divided into two grades according to the purity: the purity of the first grade shall not be lower than 99.2%; Secondary purity not less than 98.5%. The oxygen can be supplied in a human oxygen tank or by means of a pipe. The former is flexible and convenient; The latter is safe and stable, more economical, and more effective in large and medium-sized enterprises.
Acetylene: acetylene is obtained by the interaction of calcium carbide (CaC2) and water. Acetylene (acetylene) is a colorless gas with a distinctive odor. Its density in the standard state is 1.179kg/m3, which is lighter than air.
Acetylene is a combustible gas. When it is mixed with oxygen, it produces a flame temperature of 3,000-3,300c, which is enough to melt metal quickly for welding and cutting.
Acetylene can be dissolved in acetone solution in large quantities, so we can take advantage of this characteristic of acetylene and store, transport and use it in an acetylene bottle containing acetone solution and activated carbon.
It must be noted that acetylene is an explosive and dangerous gas. When the pressure of acetylene reaches 0.15~ 0.2mpa and the temperature is 580~600℃, acetylene will explode by itself. The mixture of acetylene with oxygen and air is also explosive. Therefore, the acetylene generator just loaded into calcium carbide should be the first after the acetylene with air exhaust can be used. When adding acetylene, special attention should be paid to avoid open fires and sparks. The oxygen should be strictly prevented from flowing into the acetylene generator.
Propane: propane has the formula C3H8 and is heavier than air. The flame temperature of propane is 2000~2700℃, which is lower than that of acetylene flame. Therefore, the preheating time of propane gas cutting should be longer. Propane gas cutting clean incision, no carburizing, the lower edge is not easy to hang slag, if there is slag also easy to remove; When cutting thin plate, the deformation is small, such as mechanized cutting, cutting surface roughness value is very small, many workpiece do not need to be machined, improve the efficiency.
Liquefied petroleum gas (mostly propane) is also somewhat explosive, but the extent to which it can cause an explosion in the air is small. It is much smaller than acetylene and burns at a lower rate, so it is much safer than acetylene.
Because propane gas is heavier than air and can accumulate, ventilation needs to be enhanced, especially for safe ventilation in the operation of containers and cylinders.
Propane is cheap and easy to get, so it is of great economic significance to replace acetylene for metal gas welding and gas cutting.
Gas welding wire: the selection of welding wire should be based on the components of the welding, the mechanical properties of the base material, the welding of the base material and the special technical requirements of the welding. The common types of gas welding wire are carbon structural steel wire, alloy structural steel wire, cast iron wire and so on.
Gas welding flux: in order to prevent the oxidation of metals, eliminate the formed oxides, improve wettability, in the welding of non-ferrous metals, cast iron and stainless steel materials, usually must use gas welding flux. Set the gas welding flux in powder shape, sealed bottle, each bottle weighs 500g.铜焊丝,Copper Welding Rods,铝焊丝,aluminium welding wire,镍焊条,Nickel electrode,药皮焊条,Flux Coated Brazing Welding Rods
